Retirement Calculator
Enter your expenses today, retirement age and return assumptions to estimate the savings you may need and a monthly investment towards them.
What is Retirement?
Retirement planning considers your future expenses and the savings and income available to pay for them. Inflation can increase the amount you will need.
This calculator uses the ages, expenses, inflation and returns you enter to estimate retirement savings and a monthly investment towards them.
How it's calculated
The calculator adjusts today’s expenses for inflation up to retirement. It then estimates the starting savings needed for the retirement period you enter, using your assumed return after inflation. Your assumed return before retirement is used to estimate the monthly investment. These assumptions do not guarantee that your savings will last.
An example
For someone aged 30 who spends ₹50,000 a month and plans to retire at 60, an assumed inflation rate of 6% increases the estimated future expenses. The savings estimate also depends on the retirement period and returns entered.
Questions people ask
Why is the estimated savings amount so large?
The estimate allows for expenses to rise with inflation and for withdrawals throughout the retirement period you enter. Change the assumptions to see how they affect the amount.
What returns should I assume after retirement?
Try a range of returns and inflation rates to see how the estimate changes. Discuss suitable assumptions with an adviser; the calculator does not predict the return you will receive.
