SWP Calculator
Planning regular withdrawals from your investments? Estimate the balance left using your starting amount, monthly withdrawal and assumed return.
What is SWP?
A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) lets you withdraw a set amount regularly while the remaining money stays invested. These withdrawals can use up your original investment as well as any returns.
How it's calculated
Each month, the calculator applies the monthly equivalent of the yearly return you enter, then subtracts your withdrawal at the end of the month. It repeats this for the period you select or until the balance runs out. Actual returns can vary; this estimate cannot confirm that your money will last throughout retirement.
An example
For a starting amount of ₹50 lakh and monthly withdrawals of ₹30,000, enter an assumed yearly return of 8% to see the estimated balance over your chosen period. Try a lower return too; the result depends on the assumptions.
Questions people ask
Will my money run out?
The estimate depends on your starting amount, withdrawals, assumed return and chosen period. Actual returns can change, so this calculation cannot confirm how long your money will last.
Is an SWP tax-efficient?
Often more so than fully taxable interest, since each withdrawal is partly your own capital. The exact treatment depends on the fund and holding period, worth confirming with an advisor.
